November 15th, 2023 - January 12th, 2024

This was the most unusual round in this tournament's history because of its split start. The first six games began within a week of the usual September start. One in October. However, the last four started in mid-November to allow the BPA to announce the tournament in their newsletters and a final mad recruiting campaign to get more players across social media, mailing lists, and other VITP tournaments. We had only 14 players at the start of the rush and needed 16. We ended with 22 participants -- as eight joined in the frenzied push. It helped that many participants had just finished games in the ladder or Top 10 Invitational. Many thanks to all participants for making it possible to qualify as a BPA tournament!

In terms of results, some unusual outcomes also appeared. Two of the top three seeds were eliminated (including Michael Day for personal reasons and Mike Kaye who lost a final battle showdown for the Japanese Islands that lasted more than 14 rounds and saw Mike's Hosho and Ryuho unsuccessfully try to stop the Allied surface lap). Perhaps most shocking was the total domination of the Allies -- winning 8 of 11 games.
